A series of articles on UFOs (e.g., here, here, and here) were based on photographs and videos contributed by Claire O'Regan of Reading, England. Ms. O'Regan continues to find evidence of UFOs, and this report discusses anomalous objects she recently found in two new photographs. According to the associated EXIF information, the two photos were taken about five minutes apart near 11:00 AM on July 22, 2011. A video of a presumably different object was made about 1.5 hours later on the same day, and is discussed in a separate article.

The unknown object was cropped from the photograph and enlarged in the following image to show more details. It has a somewhat cylindrical shape, but the diameter appears to change slightly in several places along its length. A sharp reduction is especially evident near the right end. One could speculate that it is a bottle-shaped helium balloon escaped from its moorings. However, without more information, this object is properly called a UFO.

The second photograph shows a different unknown object in the sky. The following image shows the object cropped from the photograph. Again, click on the image to see the original photograph where the sun is visible behind a cloud above the object.

At first glance, the object might appear to be a bird since it has a similar overall shape. But closer examination suggests that it is something quite different. The following image on the left shows an enlarged view of the object, while the image on the right shows the result of applying an equalization algorithm to enhance contrast. These images strongly suggest the presence of a pinkish dome centered on the top of the object.

If we assume that the sun is responsible for the gradations of shade on the object, these shadows permit some additional speculation regarding its shape. The darkest shadow is centered on the bottom part of the shape. Since the sun is shining from almost directly above the object, this shadow suggests that the area is hidden from the sun by the upper part of the object. This occlusion of the sun does not appear to extend to the ends of the object where the shadows are not as dark. Therefore, the object appears not to be a symmetrical disk shape, but is likely more cylindrical. In that case, the pink component would be shaped like the oblong canopy of an aircraft rather than the circular dome of a stereotypical flying saucer.
The above enhanced image also shows a subtle feature seen in a number of other photos of UFOs (e.g., here). Overlaying the left end of the object is a toroidal optical effect that is easily missed. The image below shows the position of the torus as a graphical overlay. With this as a guide, the toroidal feature should become apparent in the above image. There is some distortion away from the perfect circle shape which could be due to its orientation in 3D space.

The toroidal feature is important because it is thought to be the visible manifestation of a field used for propulsion by craft of unknown origin. It's presence here would indicate that this object is in the same class.
